Smuggled cellphones totaling Rp 7.3 billion from Malaysia were foiled in West Kalimantan

Channel Rakyat. The Bengkayang Resort Police Department in West Kalimantan foiled the smuggling of thousands of cellphones worth Rp. 7.3 billion. The cellphone was allegedly from Malaysia.

"Two units of slow four-wheeled vehicles crossed Jalan Perwira, Kelurahan Bumi Amas, Bengkayang Subdistrict. Bengkayang Police Detective Personnel who were on patrol were suspicious of a vehicle that was passing from Jagoi Babang to Pontianak with the final destination to Ketapang Regency," said Bengkayang Police Chief AKBP Yos Guntur Yudi Fauris Susanto when contacted in Bengkayang, as reported by Antara on Thursday (12/20/2018).

He explained the two units of the vehicle, the box car with the KB 8264 AT Police Number and the KB 1023 WF Police Number car carrying illegal goods from Malaysia in the form of cellular phones. So, the inspection was carried out by officers and checked the contents in the car and the suspicion turned out to be true.

According to him the arrest of illegal Malaysian goods refers to the basis of the Police Report: LP // A / XII / Res.1.3. / 2018 / Res.Bky / Reskrim, Tuesday, December 18, 2018 regarding the alleged Consumer Protection Crime as referred to in Article 62 Paragraph (1) Jo Article 8 Paragraph (1) letter a Jo of RI Law No. 08 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection or Article 113 of RI Law No.7 of 2014 concerning Trade.

"The owner of the illegal item is a man with the initial S. This 33-year-old man is a resident of Pontianak City, and a man with the initial F. This 42-year-old man is also a citizen of Pontianak City. Both of them were arrested," he said.

He continued, in the interests of investigating a number of witnesses were examined to reveal the origin of illegal goods from the neighbor.

"The evidence is secured. The case begins with brief information from the local community who saw the vehicle passing directly on the main road in Bengkayang," he said.

The entry of illegal goods from Malaysia to West Kalimantan through the RI-Malaysia border received special attention from the West Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police, Didi Haryono.

The former Riau Islands Regional Police Chief explained, the Province of West Kalimantan has five regions directly adjacent to Malaysia.

These areas include, Babang Jagoi Bengkayang Regency, Sajingan Besar Sambas Regency, Entikong Sanggau Regency, Upper Ketungau Sintang District, and Badau Kapuas Hulu Regency.

Therefore, the former Kapuas Hulu police chief hoped the community would actively participate in reporting various information to the police. Because, starting from the information of the community, the ranks can follow up.

"Never be tired of reporting to us. Don't hesitate. Don't be afraid. We protect," he said.
