Fishermen in Biak Papua Are Called to Beware of High Waves

Lensa Aktual. Residents and fishermen in Biak Numfor, Papua, were asked to be wary of high waves and strong winds. It is predicted that this extreme weather will occur until December 21.

"Early warning is for residents traveling by ship because sea waves reach 2.50 meters in the northern waters of Biak," said the Head of BMKG Biak Luwi Agung as quoted by Antara on Wednesday (12/19/2018).

He appealed to Biak residents who would travel to pay attention to the weather conditions of Biak City and its surroundings. Agung said that the general weather conditions in Biak are cloudy until light intensity rain occurs in the early hours.

Winds blow from southwest to northwest with speeds ranging from 6-30 km / hr, while temperatures range from 25-31 degrees Celsius.

"24 hours a day BMKG issues up-to-date information about the weather conditions in Biak Numfor District through the website www.stametbiak.com," Agung said.

Until Wednesday afternoon, fishermen on the coastal waters of Yenures and Fandoi did not go to sea because of the strong winds that hit the waters and Biak City and its surroundings.
