BNN: During 2018, there were 83 syndicates circulating drugs in Indonesia

Liputan Digital. The National Narcotics Agency sniffed 83 83 syndicates operating in Indonesia throughout 2018. The figure, according to the National Narcotics Agency, was smaller than last year.

"The National Narcotics Agency identified in 2018 there were 83 drug syndicate networks, while in 2017 there were 99 networks," BNN Head Heru Winarko told reporters in his office, Cawang, East Jakarta, Thursday (12/20/2018).

Heru said that the network originated mostly from the northern region of Indonesia, both at home and abroad. He claimed to know exactly that because the BNN laboratory could identify the origin of the drug area being tested.

Apart from that, Heru said there were 914 drug cases with 1,355 suspects that had been handled by the National Narcotics Agency this year. In addition, BNN worked on 53 drug cases related to money laundering with 70 suspects and assets of Rp 229 billion.

As for areas prone to drug distribution, the BNN says there are 654 locations throughout Indonesia. The National Narcotics Agency has also implemented an anti-drug empowerment program in 55 locations, namely 36 office areas and 19 rural areas.
